Artist Statement
A lifetime of fine art training and a degree in Graphic Design and Advertising Art gave me a solid base from which I’ve branched out in many directions. As a graphic designer for the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. (in their corporate headquarters), I gained experience in the publishing and print world. Taking that knowledge into the freelance world, I have translated that into the creation of many works including logos, marketing materials, books and catalogs. I have also studied cloud painting and wall texturing.
As part of my ongoing quest to learn and add to my artist practice, I attended two unique decorative painting workshops in Italy under the tutelage of 4 world class decorative painters which gave me the skills to add faux finishes such as marbling and fresco to the list of techniques that I have to offer in my artwork and murals.
Whether I am drawing from my experiences and observations of the Sonoran Desert or utilizing the techniques that I studied abroad, each of my pieces represents my unique experiences in life, travel and study.
